The 8th edition of Drawing Room Lisboa, a fair dedicated to contemporary drawing, will take place from October 23 to 26 at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, in Lisbon. This year, the event brings together 23 galleries and over 65 Portuguese and international artists, reinforcing its prominent position in the national art scene and once again highlighting the importance of drawing as a central language in contemporary artistic practice.
The 2025 edition, represented by the work Reconstrucción (2025) by Chilean artist María Ossandón, will feature some of the most relevant Portuguese and international galleries, selected by the fair's direction in collaboration with the Advisory Committee.
From Lisbon, participating galleries include 3+1 Arte Contemporânea, Arte Periférica, Balcony – Contemporary Art Gallery, Carlos Carvalho – Arte Contemporânea, Galeria 111, Galeria Belo Galsterer, Galeria Filomena Soares, Galeria Miguel Nabinho, No.No Gallery, and Salgadeiras Arte Contemporânea. From Porto, the galleries Nuno Centeno, Pedro Oliveira, Kubikgallery, Lehmann, and Presença will be present. From the Azores, the regular participation of Fonseca Macedo – Arte Contemporânea continues.
Joining these Portuguese galleries are Galería Silvestre (Madrid), Siboney (Santander), and Trinta Arte Contemporánea (Santiago de Compostela). Making their debut at the fair are the galleries This is Not a White Cube, Dialogue, BraçoPerna 44, and Galería Bibli, from Tenerife.
Among the featured artists are some of the leading names in the Portuguese contemporary scene, such as António Olaio, José Pedro Croft, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Pedro Calapez, Pedro Vaz, and Mariana Gomes, in dialogue with artists from different geographies such as Eric Fok (China), Pilar Mackenna (Chile), Vicente Blanco (Spain), Klaas Vanhee (Belgium), and Cássio Markowski (Brazil).
In parallel with the gallery program, the Sociedade Nacional de Belas-Artes will also host works by the finalists of the FLAD Drawing Room Lisboa 2025 Prize: Ana Manso, Mariana Gomes, Luísa Jacinto, Pedro Vaz, and Tiago Baptista. The winner, to be announced during the fair, will receive a prize of €20,000. In previous editions, the prize was awarded to artists Pedro Tropa, Maria Capelo, Carla Filipe, and Rosa Baptista.
Drawing Room Lisboa once again receives support from the Lisbon City Council, which will continue the Contemporary Art Acquisition Fund (FAAC), reinforcing its commitment to the promotion and appreciation of contemporary art in Portugal.
