Until 25 May, applications are open for the three AiR 351 residency grants, in partnership with Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), Ria Keburia Foundation and Centro de Artes e Criatividade (CAC) – Torres Vedras, respectively.
The first, supported by FLAD, is an initiative that aims to support an American or US-based artist or curator from September to December 2025. The programme includes regular curatorial and technical assistance, access to an individual studio and common spaces at the AiR 351 headquarters, located in Cascais, in the Lisbon region, and a monthly allowance of 1150 euros for a total period of 4 months. Residents will be integrated into the local artistic community and involved in AiR 351’s general programme of activities, including studio visits, open studios and public performances. Running since 2019, this residency programme has already welcomed several curators and artists – at different stages of their practice – including: Alisha Wessler (2024), Jessica Segall (2023), Kim Schoen (2022), Ian Soroka (2022), Keren Benbenisty (2021), Adriana Ramić (2021), Jody Wood (2020), João Enxuto & Erica Love (2020), Ellie Ga (2019) and Nicholas Knight (2019). Applications should be submitted via email to applications@air351.art. Later, the applications will be evaluated and shortlisted by an International Selection Committee, made up of Nathalie Anglès, Sébastien Pluot and Lilian Tone. More information on the application and selection process for the FLAD / AiR 351 Scholarship can be found here.
The Ria Keburia & AiR 351 scholarship is aimed at supporting emerging or established artists from Georgia. For one month, from 15 June to 15 July 2025, the resident artist will have access to a studio space, a private room at the CAC in Torres Vedras and a grant of 500 euros. The grant will also cover economy flight round trip from Tbilisi to Lisbon. The programme aims to enable artists to network and interact with art professionals in Portugal. Applicants must submit a brief project proposal describing their intention for the residency. Applications should be sent via e-mail to artresidence@riakeburia.com. More information about the Ria Keburia & AiR 351 scholarship is available here.
The three-month AiR 351 / CAC grant is aimed at artists from all countries and at different points in their practice, excluding only former and current AiR 351 residents. This artist residency programme seeks to be strongly rooted in the Torres Vedras region, increasing the artistic presence in the city and fostering a close relationship between the artist, the wider community and the city’s territory. During the residency period, the AiR 351 / CAC grant provides a studio at the CAC, accommodation near the Centre and a monthly allowance of 1100 euros. Applications should be sent to applications@air351.art. You can find more information about the programme and the application process on the initiative’s website.
