Ece Canlı is a vocal practitioner, performance and sound artist, composer, and researcher working across extended vocal techniques, experimental electronics, improvisation, site-specific composition and sound installation. Her work explores body politics, extralinguistic expression, counterfactual narratives, and the limits of the sounding body. Bringing acoustic phenomena into dialogue with live processing, unconventional microphones and spatial sound, she investigates the physicality, multiplicity and artificiality of the source of the voice through her solo and collaborative endeavours. She has released two solo albums, VOX FLORA, VOX FAUNA (2020) and S A C R O S U N (2024), and has contributed to various phonographic editions. She performs in close-circuit projects such as NOOITO, INCOMPLETE OPEN UNIT and COBRACORAL. Ece holds a PhD from the University of Porto and her academic research centres on carceral spaces, penal technologies, abolitionism, and lived experiences of confinement.
