Cristina Massena (b. 1977) currently lives and works in Porto. Her multidisciplinary artistic practice stems from her academic training in architecture and painting. Starting from sculpture, the artist conceptually unfolds the aspects of materiality, its intervals, voids and passages, seeking to map visual systems alluding to both tangibility and intangibility, mirroring the conditions of presence and absence as limits of perception. Her work reflects the impermanence of territory, demonstrating the constant fluctuations, mutations and flows that open up as conditions of pure possibility.
