Claire de Santa Coloma is the winner of the 12th edition of the Young Artists Awards from the EDP Foundation. The jury highlighted the way the artist reinvented sculpting and the way Claire works it so keenly, carving, excavating, polishing, a long and hard work incompatible with our fast, current time.

This year a honorable mention was awarded to Ana Guedes for her work in digital media, as the installation exhibited so diligently shows: the apparent silence of cassettes playing on loop – nothing but a sound of static of a cassette to be recorded or the sound of cassettes that were deleted or censored.

In the edition of 2017, the jury was composed by Eduardo Batarda, Penelope Curtis, Bill Fontana, João Mourão e Pedro Gadanho, with a preselection that resulted in the exhibition which may be seen at MAAT, until 9 October. In this preselection, we remind you, the curators Ana Anacleto, Filipa Oliveira and João Silvério chose to represent the artists Ana Cardoso, Bernardo Correia, João Gabriel, Ana Guedes, Igor Jesus e Claire de Santa Coloma.
