The Photography Biennial – PB20 will announce this edition’s winners on May 8, at Celeiro da Patriarcal, in Vila Franca de Xira, where is also on show, until May 21, the exhibition of the works in competition.

The contemplated artists for the awards evaluated by the Prize Jury (António Pinto Ribeiro, Emília Tavares, Liliana Coutinho, Raquel Henriques da Silva e Tobi Maier) are nine, with diverse and extensive practices and portfolios. Ana Janeiro, Beatriz Banha, Daniela Ângelo, Elisa Azevedo, Frederico Brízida, Hugo de Almeida Pinho, Humberto Brito, Teresa Huertas e Stefano Martini are the selected artists and photographers for three diferente categories: the council prize, the bullfighting prize and the biennial prize.

Also integrating the BF20 and opening on this day, the exhibition Deambulação e Itinerância, at Museu Municipal de Vila Franca de Xira, explores the processual and performative aspect of photography through the works of Alexandre Delmar, Carlos Lobo, Luiza Baldan and Xavier Paes.

As a partner of the Vila Franca de Xira Council for the PB20, Umbigo #76 will be launched alongside the awards announcements.

The twentieth edition of the Photography Biennial of Vila Franca de Xira joined once again Sandra Vieira Jürgens as its main curator and is divided in three main exhibition moments: the general show at Celeiro da Patriarcal, the already mentioned Deambulação e Itinerâncias, and Fotoutopia: Construções Imaginárias, opening on September 8, at Fábrica das Palavras, with works by Ana Linhares, Estefanía Landesmann, Pedro Valdez Cardoso and São Trindade.

In short: the PB20 winners’ announcement and Umbigo #76 launch on May 8, 3:30 pm, at Celeiro da Patriarcal, Vila Franca de Xira. The attendance is controlled by the COVID-19 safety measures. Confirm your attendance at dimrp.sa@cm-vfxira.pt or 969 800 045.
