With text and direction by Beatriz Teodósio, this is a fictional-documentary play, born from a collection of records (diaries and photo albums) of Beatriz and her grandmother, Gó — a woman from the rural area who dreamed of being an actress but had her dreams stifled by the patriarchal society of her time — as well as a series of interviews conducted with a group of resident and associated women artists of Apoiarte - Casa do Artista.
Inspired by this true story, and situated between a biographical account and a surrealist narrative, the play is presented as an “act of rewriting, a gesture of insubordination and continuity” that aims to celebrate the female voices that persistently invent new ways of existing. Somos Todas Baba Yaga thus proposes a reflection on the weight of dreams and disobedience in female resistance to patriarchal norms.
Co-produced by Casa do Artista (Lisbon) and Teatro Art'Imagem (Porto), Somos Todas Baba Yaga has the scientific support of psychiatrist and writer Daniel Sampaio. The show is part of the programming cycle of Teatro Armando Cortez / Casa do Artista and the 42nd edition of the Seixal Theatre Festival, with performances taking place in Lisbon, Seixal, and Marvila until January 2026. Tickets for the show can be purchased here.
