Organized by Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa (CDAP) and the Millennium bcp Foundation, Exposição de Arte Jovem Fundação Millennium bcp has been one of the most important platforms for the recognition of young talent in Portugal’s visual arts.
This exhibition also has a competition that will award six of the selected artists. The awards include trips, residencies, exhibitions and acquisition prizes.
Being a project focused on senior students, the training of these young artists given by the different Portuguese colleges is also under scrutiny. In the 2020 edition, FBAUL is represented by artists Ana Ferreira, Ana Romãozinho, Carlota Boia Neto, Filipa Ventura, Louise Kanefuku, Oksana Zahryva and Mariana Tavares de Carvalho; the University of Évora by Eduardo Freitas; ESAD Caldas da Rainha by Gil Ferrão; the University of Algarve by Patrícia Serrão; the Theatre and Film School by Pedro Ramalho Marques; and Ar.Co. by Vera Midões. In parallel, in an extra competition event, the artists Joana Ramalho and Anabela Soares, attached to Associação Manicómio/P28, also have an exhibition.
The jury is composed of Emília Ferreira (Director of the National Museum of Contemporary Art), Paula Lopez Zambrano (Independent Curator) and Sandro Resende (Director of P28). The date of the final results has yet to be announced.
Exposição Arte Jovem Fundação Millennium bcp 2020 is at Not a Museum, Rua Castilho 3, until December 19. The visit is subject to prior appointment at info@carpe.pt, and is supported by Not a Museum, Associação P28, the Portuguese Centre for Serigraphy, Associação Inter.meada and Abreu Advogados.
