The boldness and contemporary aesthetics – of several juxtapositions – has always been the distinguishing mark of Gucci, without compromising the design and the utility of the produced clothing.

In the last SS 2018 edition, the creative director Alessandro Michele proposed an edgy collection which touches the big questions of modernity with a vision grounded in the post-human, digitalized future. Thus, knowing how to articulate the past with the dubious, hyper mediated tomorrow was the main verve of the new proposals.

Actually, the new advertising campaign is a reflection of this. Invited by the multinational brand, the Spanish artist Ignasi Monreal conceived a number of outdoors, covers and pages in which the greatest motives of Art History are dressed with current clothes. The technique, apparently classic, is in fact digital which proves the current migration of the pictorial tradition from the canvas to the screen. Ophelia lies in a lake with a shining sequin gold dress jacket; a knight on a shiny, male armor wears a handbag by Gucci and works a smartphone; surrealist backgrounds meet colorful clothes with references from iconic animation characters… This is how Utopian Fantasy is shown.

Through the next printed editions, as well as in the on-line publications on the website and on the Instagram, Umbigo magazine will disclose a series of images related to this campaign and the new clothing line by Gucci.

Don’t forget that the brand has a presence in Lisbon, in Avenida da Liberdade, where you may gat in touch with the new pieces and experience the irreverence of Gucci.
