Supernatural Togetherness is the leitmotif opening the first edition of the Art(e)facts Biennial, which gathers three municipalities of Beira Baixa (Fundão, Guarda and Manteigas) and prepares the Application of Guarda for the European Capital of Culture 2027 (AGECC 2027), within the programme of Architecture and Territory.

Grounded on the concepts of the post-human, the coexistence between species, the consequences of globalization and global warming, the unbalance of national, territorial and demographical grids, Supernatural Togetherness is a proposal that seeks to explore another rurality based on a critical and constructive development. For that, the ancient knowledge concurs, along the surrounding natural landscapes, the intergenerationality, co-dependency and cooperation, without ever forsaking the importance and contributions of the new technology for its valorisation, development and maintenance throughout times.

It is, thus, within this that Art(e)facts is now launching an Open Call for national and international artists, designers and architects, with the main purpose of studying new strategies of work, production and innovation alongside local artisans. The two chosen proposals must fit one of the following fields: Weaving of Burel, Wicker Basking, Linen Weaving, Pottery, Chestnut Basking or Digital Fabrication.

The applications must be submitted until 19 March, with a jury composed of Pedro Gadanho (Executive Director of AGECC 2027), Andreia Garcia (programmer of Architecture and Territory of the AGECC 2027), Miguel Rainha (Production Director of Art(e)facts), Miguel von Hafe Pérez (curator) and Carlos Fernandes (curator).

Those interested may check the complete regulation, which features information on prizes, fees, requested documentation, etc.
