In the exhibition OXE, Francisco Baccaro develops a series of works attached to a ritualistic ideal, in which the mystical language assumes an effusive expression.

Drinking from the rather specific Brazilian culture, Baccaro shows a whole religious, social, political and genetic complexity, inseparable from a colonial (and post-colonial) history of resistance. If there’s something that passes through the shown images is the attentive gaze toward the natural and biological condition of the Man and his religious passions, sometimes contradictory. According to the curator, these are “photos of a decisive concretist influence reflected by fluids: opposed structures that become possible, a poetic which solidifies the duality”.

Curated by Thiago Verardi, OXE ends next 27 October, at Casa Pau-Brasil.
