The Carmona e Costa Foundation and the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) announced last week the Prize for Art and Architecture Critic and Essay. The first prize was given to Maria Filomena Molder for her work Rebuçados Venezianos [Venetian Candies], published by Relógio d’Água and the second prizes were given to Pedro Lapa and Diogo Seixas Lopes for their books Joaquim Rodrigo, a continua reinvenção da pintura [Joaquim Rodrigo, the continuous reinvention of painting] (published by Documenta), and Melancolia e Arquitetura em Aldo Rossi [Melancholy and Architecture: on Aldo Rossi] (published by Orfeu Negro in Portuguese and Park Books in English), respectively.

The jury includes Ana Vaz Milheiros, Margarida Brito Alves and Miguel Wandschneider who justify their choices by “the commitment of the authors with a constant work of investigation and thought”, hoping for new and similar editions in the future in these fields of critic and essay in art and architecture.

The date of the ceremony is yet to be announced and it will take place in the headquarters of the Carmona e Costa Foundation, in Lisbon.
