Rita Gaspar Vieira (in situ art project for the IST Geosciences Museums – Inst. Sup. Técnico)

When combining Art and Science on the seats of a museum, contamination is inevitable. This is enhanced and captured by Rita Gaspar Vieira in the paintings and installations she displays. By diving deep into these shed and moulded skins, we find an unexpected fragmentary universe. Fibres that were once fabrics and plants…dust that was stone and before that was stone…in a distant history where memory and emotion were born.
