Hello again. I have to thank all the good feedback gathered by these selections and for this one I’ve decided one more thing that will end up affecting how some of these choices are made. So it seems that every time I reach a dozen M4wes (said like that, it looks like I’m going to be doing this for a long time… yeah maybe why not?) that one will have the title of Restos de Coleção (Collection Surplus) and this is the first one. In it I’ll fit songs that were left out of the previous 11, because there was no space or because another one won the podium because it was better fitted in the final mix, in short there may be a beautiful number of reasons why songs that I like have not been part of me sharing these weekly outbursts.

In this way, there will be, as I said, things that could have been heard in the previous 11, in Quarentita, All that Jazz, Tique Taque and so on up until Spoiler Alert. But as it could not be there is trick in the end. So I decided to choose only 39 pieces of music and send the thirty-ninth to a Portuguese fashion designer. Get it? Collection Surplus, duh… For this first one I decided to take the beautiful Into Zelali that Duo Ouro Negro recorded on the album Blackground in 1981 and challenge Dino Alves for these trip of mine. Listen to everything until the end and you will reach the fortieth song that was his choice. I can only give you a few clues to the most anxious: don’t take Lexotan, the artist’s previous name starts with the letter P and just last week there was a song by this same “artist” included but from another film by him. Bite the tail, bite that tail, even Dino has already realized the mindset of this thing…

There’s a little bit of everything but that’s something I have made easy for you to become used to. Re-edits like the one made by Disconet for Plastic Bertrand’s classic Stop or Encore, plus one by Bernard Herrmann, in this case from Taxi Driver‘s soundtrack, the Raincoats version of Lola‘s, a huge classic by the Kinks, nº 5 which, as if it were Chanel, is the shortest of the Choros composed by Heitor Villa Lobos or the minimal emotional drumbeat of the talented Gabriella Borbély, producer and DJ based in Stockholm who signs as Bella Boo and who in her bio at Resident Advisor has only written “Flightmode is the greatest”. Lovely.

Be dandy this weekend, you’re worth it.
