“Emphasizing the staircase as a symbol, especially the drama of verticality and the union between the three cosmic worlds – heaven, earth, and underworld – Paulo Wirz's installation immerses us in a landscape-environment dominated by green, attracting us through its ambivalence and dual polarity: the green of the plant kingdom and the green of mold – life and death. The chromatic palette that the artist offers us as soon as we enter the exhibition space evokes suggestions of death, putrefaction, and sulfur, reinforcing the image of depth and underworld that serves as the exhibition's title.”
